Healthy Easter Tips
Easter, along with most holidays, is accompanied by "indulgent" foods. And in all likelihood we are going to eat more than our usual fill on these days. Here are a few tips for how we can enjoy the day and all the goodies that come with it:
- Prevent an all-day graze by eating regular meals. Include those newly-dyed, hard boiled eggs as a good source of protein. Protein helps fill you up and keeps you feeling full longer! And don't forget to hydrate!
- Change the focus from food to family traditions. Enjoy the day and all that comes with it. Have an Easter egg hunt, hide the Easter baskets, share a good conversation with a loved one, fly kites or watch a classic movie such as Easter Parade.
- Don't be surprised when your kids keep asking for more candy; we gave it to them after all! The excitement of the candy usually wears off within a few days. So in the meantime, continue to offer them balanced meals with fiber and lean proteins to keep them feeling well-nourished.
- If you find you did eat past the point of satisfaction, don't become an Easter bully! You might just notice you aren't as hungry the following day and your usual eating habit will return to normal in a day or so.
