We have the area’s most popular obstetricians, the newest and most beautiful birthing suites and an award-winning team. We accept all insurance types including Medicaid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We have 25 post-partum rooms. It is our goal that all new parents have a private room.

Yes. We encourage moms to keep their baby with them as much as possible. Most babies room in with their mother 24 hours a day.

During the day and until 9:00 PM, you may come to the labor and delivery unit located on the 5th floor of the hospital. After 9:00 PM, you should come through the emergency department entrance.

We have a 14-bed special care nursery (SCN) if your little one arrives early and needs extra care. If your baby is in critical condition, we will transfer your little one to a hospital with the required services.

Children are allowed to be present for labor and delivery only when a responsible adult is in charge of their care.

Yes! We have a locked unit with a security system. Every employee will wear a badge identifying his or her right to be on this unit.

Most patients are here between 24-72 hours.

A souvenir birth certificate is provided at the hospital. You can obtain a legal copy of baby’s birth certificate at the Winnebago County Health Department two weeks after delivery.

We have several certified lactation consultants on staff. You may call the SwedishAmerican Lactation Help Line at (779) 696-4890 for questions after discharge. We also offer a breastfeeding support group for continued support during those early weeks, every Tuesday from 1-2 PM. Lactation consultants see all breastfeeding mothers. In addition, all nurses are trained to assist with breastfeeding.
