SwedishAmerican Hosts Annual Holiday Donation Drives

During the month of November and December, SwedishAmerican hosted four holiday donation drives to help those less fortunate in the Rockford region.

In November, SwedishAmerican employees collected slightly used hats, gloves, scares, coats and boots for homeless children in the Rockford area to benefit the Rockford Public School District 205’s Homeless Program and other agencies that benefit the homeless. The drive was a huge hit, and SwedishAmerican helped collect more than 150 hats, scarves, boots and gloves for homeless children.

SwedishAmerican also participated in the Adopt An Angel program, a drive to support families through the Winnebago/Boone County Foster Care Alliance. More than 100 employees participated in the program and purchased presents for children ages one through 18 years of age who are in the foster care system.

Salvation Army bins were placed in the SwedishAmerican Hospital lobby, Heart Hospital lobby, Camelot Tower, Plaza, Wight Center, Belvidere Medical Center and the Regional Cancer Center during the months of November and December. With the help of our generous employees, SwedishAmerican collected a mass amount of canned goods for local Rockford residents in need of food and basic necessities.

Lastly, SwedishAmerican teamed up with Annie’s Locker, a local non-profit organization that supports people in need of proper fitness gear, and collected more than 800 new socks for children and adults who are in need in the Rockford area.

Beyond the three drives, our employees wanted to do even more and organized several more drives throughout our clinics and departments. Those drives benefited the Rockford Rescue Mission, Women’s and Children’s Crisis Center, Kibble Korner, Edward Hines, Jr. Veteran’s Hospital, and more.

“At SwedishAmerican, our mission is to care for the community and we are thrilled to carry out that mission and help so many less fortunate children and adults throughout the Rockford region this holiday season,” says Katryna Kirby, community relations specialist at SwedishAmerican. “Our employees have some of the biggest hearts! They will truly help make local families' holidays a little more special this year.”
