Swedes' School of Radiography is a hospital-based, certificate program. As the program sponsor, SwedishAmerican Hospital has primary responsibility for the professional education program, and awards the hospital certificate. Our working affiliation with the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL, allows St. Francis students to attend radiography school and SwedishAmerican. Upon completion of the radiography program, students will be awarded a Baccalaureate of Science from the University of St. Francis along with a certificate from SwedishAmerican.

Apply to Become a Radiologic Technologist
We will be accepting applications from June 1st to March 15th, 2021 for the class that will begin in the Fall of 2021. This 21-month program seeks to prepare individuals to become competent, entry-level radiographers. From 2015-2019, our program has an average completion rate of 91% and a 100% job placement rate.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student is a candidate to sit for The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination.
Eligibility Requirements for ARRT Certification Exam
Beginning January 1, 2015 (class that is admitted in July 2013), all candidates must possess at least an associate degree in order to be eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Examination. The degree does not have to be in radiologic sciences.

SwedishAmerican School of Radiography has a postsecondary articulation agreement with the University of St. Francis located in Joliet Illinois. This curricular track is in a 2+2 format, meaning a student will take 2 years of prerequisites (USF and SwedishAmerican requirements) and then 2 years of radiography courses at SwedishAmerican in Rockford. Upon completion of the 2 years at SwedishAmerican School of Radiography a student will be eligible for the ARRT certification in Radiography and will also earn a baccalaureate degree from the University of St. Francis.
