Two SwedishAmerican Physician Executives Assume New Positions
SwedishAmerican is pleased to announce that two of its physician executives have assumed new positions in the health system. Dr. Thomas Schiller has been named Chief Clinical Integration Officer for SwedishAmerican and Dr. Timothy Flynn has been named President of the SwedishAmerican Medical Group, succeeding Dr. Schiller in that role.
Dr. Schiller will lead the clinical integration efforts across SwedishAmerican Hospital, SwedishAmerican Medical Group, SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere, Home Health, and UW Health. He also will work with other local health care agencies and physician groups to coordinate care and improve outcomes. Dr. Schiller follows Dr. Kathleen Kelly, who retired from a similar position earlier this month.
A Rockford native, Dr. Schiller is board-certified in family practice and joined the SwedishAmerican Medical Group in 1995, serving as president since 2001. Dr. Schiller holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and did his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Flynn will represent the interests of 150+ employed physicians and advanced practice clinicians serving patients in more than 20 SwedishAmerican clinics and SwedishAmerican Hospital.
Dr. Flynn is board-certified in family medicine and has been a practicing physician with the SwedishAmerican Medical Group since 2000. In 2013, he became the group’s medical director. A Roscoe native, Dr. Flynn earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, and completed his residency through the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria. Dr. Flynn will continue to see patients on a part-time basis.
