SWEDISHAMERICAN WELCOMES NEW NURSE PRACTITIONERS TO NICU
ROCKFORD, Illinois – SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome new neonatal nurse practitioners Denise Kirsten and Susan Faber to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at SwedishAmerican Hospital (1401 E. State Street, Rockford).
Denise and Susan are both board certified neonatal nurse practitioners and bring a combined 72 years of experience to the Level III NICU.
Denise received her degree from Rush University and has been practicing for 39 years. She has received the SIG Leadership Award and the Rolling Meadows High School Distinguished Alumni Award.
“My philosophy of care is based on empathy and understanding,” Denise said. “It is difficult having a loved one in the hospital, especially the NICU, and it is important to involve families in their infant’s care. It is also important to have a good working relationship with staff nurses, as this impacts patient care. Being involved in a multidisciplinary team involving nurses, physicians, advance practice nurses and other disciplines is important to improving patient care.”
Susan received her APN degree at Rush University and is a native of Marengo. She brings 33 years of experience to SwedishAmerican’s NICU.
“I’ve always wanted to be a nurse,” Susan said. “I strive for family-oriented care, which is especially important with neonates.”
