ROCKFORD, Illinois – SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome new neonatologist Dr. Angeline Castillo Tejada to the hospital’s Neonatology Department (1401 E. State Street, Rockford IL).

Dr. Castillo-Tejada brings 10 years of experience to SwedishAmerican. She received her medical degree from Universidad Catolica Nordestana, completed her residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York, and completed her fellowship at John Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and her special medical interests include Mother/Baby Care, Pediatric Care and Women and Children.

"As a neonatologist, the most important thing I have learned from my patients is perseverance and how things you may consider small can change a life,” Dr. Castillo-Tejada said. “When you work with premature infants and/or very sick infants, every achievement and every milestone is celebrated and every day counts. I really appreciate being part of the most cherished moments in the life of a family, and to be there in the most vulnerable moments as well. The best part of my work is indeed when we can send these babies home and reunite them with their families, this is a priceless gift for me as a physician."
