SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome Dr. Otavio Pereira Rodrigues to the SwedishAmerican Infectious Disease Clinic (1340 Charles Street, Rockford, IL).

Dr. Rodrigues received his medical degree from Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre and completed his residency and fellowship at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Originally from Pelotas, Brazil, Dr. Rodrigues brings 13 years of experience to SwedishAmerican and is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, HIV Medicine Association and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.

“I strive to ensure I hear what my patient is trying to tell me and that the message comes to me unfiltered, without any fear of embarrassment or judgment,” Dr. Rodrigues said. “I make a commitment that my patients will find in my practice an environment where their needs are a priority, and where they find a safe environment where they will receive compassionate care during difficult times. Being a doctor has been a humbling experience. As I get a nuanced understanding of medicine, I find a profession that fills me with the obligation of always bettering myself, being committed to the best available medical information, and understanding the limitations of medicine. I also make sure my patients can exert their autonomy by keeping them well-informed, hence empowering their decisions.”
