ROCKFORD, Illinois – SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome DNP Mary Bohne Hintzsche to UW Health Surgery at SwedishAmerican (1340 Charles Street, Suite 100, Rockford).

Mary received her medical degree and completed her residency at Rush University. She is a board certified family nurse practitioner as well as an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. Her special medical interests include chronic disease management, disease prevention, patient education, preventive medicine and surgery.

Mary is a recipient of the Rush University Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Graduate Commitment to Excellence Award and the Rush University College of Nursing Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. She is also a member of American Association of Colleges of Nursing, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Association.

Originally from Genoa, Mary is a Genoa School District board member and a volunteer for SwedishAmerican’s annual SAM Safety Fair.

“The reason I pursued the healthcare field was due to an interest in helping patients and the ability to be a lifelong learner, as the medical field is always advancing,” Mary said. “My philosophy of care is a holistic approach and working collaboratively as a team including other medical specialties, patients and family members to achieve the best patient care and outcomes possible.”
