SwedishAmerican Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning Tom Myers to Retire July 1

After 31 years of service, Tom Myers, vice president of marketing and strategic planning, is retiring from SwedishAmerican on July 1. Tom began his journey with SwedishAmerican in March of 1986 as director of communications, and in October of 1989 was promoted to vice president of marketing and strategy. Tom’s tenure included working closely with three CEOs: Dr. Bob Henry, Dr. Bob Klint and for the last 16 years, Dr. Bill Gorski.

Tom has been an integral part of the leadership of our health system. During his time with SwedishAmerican, we have seen tremendous growth, not only in facilities and locations, but also in market share and preference. Tom has provided the leadership team with wisdom, insight, candor and humor. He also has been a trusted confidant and counselor to Dr. Bill Gorski.

Tom has served on many boards in Rockford, including Junior Achievement of Rock River Valley, Growth Dimensions of Boone County, United Way of Rock River Valley and Rockford Airport.

Tom is a native of Boone, Iowa and graduate of the University of Iowa. He has been married to Denise for 42 years and has two sons, Timothy (wife Shannon) and Jeffrey (wife Elise) and five grandchildren.
