SwedishAmerican State Street Mile Announces School Challenge Winners
The 34th annual SwedishAmerican State Street Mile, held Saturday, August 4 in downtown Rockford, is pleased to announce winners of the school challenge. Winnebago High School was awarded with $1,000; Freeport Middle School was awarded with $750 and Maria Montessori School was awarded with $500. Each school had the most registered and most participating students, staff and faculty in this year’s State Street Mile.
“We had a great turnout this year and we want to congratulate all three schools who won this year’s school challenge,” said State Street Mile Race Director Rick Durso. “State Street Mile is a great event to get the students involved and encourage health and wellness. We want to thank the winning schools, along with all of the area students and staff that participated for their support of State Street Mile.”
Winnebago High School had 21 participants; second place was Belvidere High school with 19 participants. Freeport Middle School had 17 participants; second place was Winnebago Middle School with six participants. Maria Montessori School had 16 participants; second place was St. Rita School with five participants.
