SwedishAmerican State Street Mile Announces High School Challenge Winner

The 32nd annual SwedishAmerican State Street Mile, held Saturday, August 6 in downtown Rockford, is pleased to announce that Boylan High School is the winner of the third annual $1,000 High School Challenge. The State Street Mile committee will present a check to Boylan High School during a football game this fall. Boylan had 33 runners participate in the State Street Mile and is the proud recipient of $1,000.

The High School Challenge was a special challenge created in 2014 by the State Street Mile committee. Area high schools, both public and private, were encouraged to have their students, staff and faculty participate in the State Street Mile on August 6. The school with the most registered and participating students and faculty were then eligible to win $1,000 for their athletic department.

“We had a great turnout this year and we want to congratulate Boylan High School for winning our third annual High School Challenge,” says State Street Mile Race Director Rick Durso. “State Street Mile is a great event to get the students involved and encourage health and wellness. We want to thank Boylan, along with all of the area high schools that participated, for their support of State Street Mile.”

East High School came in second place with 29 runners and Auburn High School and Winnebago High School tied for third place with 20 runners. For more information on the SwedishAmerican State Street Mile, please visit its Facebook page: www.facebook.com/StateStreetMileRockford.
