SwedishAmerican Special Care Nursery Family Reunion Scheduled for August 19

SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health is celebrating its youngest graduates and hosting its Special Care Nursery (SCN) family reunion on Saturday, August 19 from 1 – 3 PM. Hundreds of former patients, now kids of all ages, will celebrate with other “graduates” and reunite with SwedishAmerican’s physicians, nurses and other staff. The reunion will be held in the Heart Hospital southeast parking lot, 1344 Charles Street, Rockford. In case of inclement weather, the reunion will be held in the hospital first floor conference rooms.

The reunion provides an opportunity for SwedishAmerican SCN staff to see how far some of the tiniest and sickest patients have come and families will have a chance to reunite with the nurses and doctors they grew close with during their time in the SCN.

Additionally, the reunion will provide entertainment and activities for children of all ages, a photo booth, face painting and a balloon artist. All SCN graduates will have a chance to participate in an art project which will be displayed on the 5th floor of the hospital, near the SCN unit. Cake and punch will be provided and every participant will walk away with a gift and have a chance at winning a Toys-R-Us gift card.

“Our SCN staff and providers are extremely thrilled to reunite with the patients and family members who had to spend time in our unit,” says SwedishAmerican Pediatrics and Women’s Outpatient Services Manager Paula Culvey. “Many of our doctors and nurses helped these families during their most difficult time, so to have a celebration and reunite with the patients and family members is really exciting.”

SCN families are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, August 9 by calling (779) 696-7081 or email healthconnect@swedishamerican.org.
