SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center Celebrates Oncology Professionals Week

May is Oncology Nursing Month so to celebrate SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center is honoring all of its oncology professions May 15 – 19. Oncology professionals are committed to their patients day-in and day-out, explaining their diagnosis, guiding them through treatment, celebrating their victories and comforting them through the unimaginable. Each day during the week the Cancer Center is celebrating all of its departments and planning several fun activities!

Monday, May 15, it is radiation oncology and medical imaging day. Employees will wear mismatched attire from head-to-toe.

Tuesday, May 16 is support services day. The theme is 1960’s/1970’s disco. Employees will wear their favorite disco gear.

Wednesday, May 17 is medical oncology and infusion day. The theme is ice cream day and staff will have a “here’s the scoop” discussion on chemo side effects.

Thursday, May 18 is lab and pharmacy day. The theme is “Welcome Spring.” Employees will dress in their favorite colors of the rainbow and will be handing out skittles to patients to celebrate Spring!

Friday, May 19 is center day, celebrating every department together. Employees will wear cancer ribbon t-shirts or their favorite purple t-shirt to show their Swedes spirit.

“Every year our staff looks forward to this week. It’s the perfect time to say thank you to our staff for all that they do for our patients and their families,” says SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center Director Diane Scoville. “Every month/week/day should be dedicated to our oncology professionals as the work never ends. I truly can’t thank my staff enough for all that they do for our patients.”
