SWEDISHAMERICAN PARTNERS WITH UNITED WAY TO SPONSOR READING PROGRAM FOR INCOMING MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT CHILDREN
ROCKFORD, Illinois – SwedishAmerican is pleased to announce a new partnership with the United Way of Rock River Valley that provides books to incoming school children of the Meridian School District.
With sponsorship and support from SwedishAmerican, United Way will participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age 5. Any child age 5-and-younger who lives in the Meridian School District can register for the program either by downloading an application online at UnitedWayRRV.org or in person at the SwedishAmerican Davis Junction Clinic at 5665 N. Junction Way.
“Instilling the love of reading at an early age is one way we can help ensure kids have an opportunity to succeed,” said Alan Jones, United Way of Rock River Valley, Ogle County director. “Thanks to this partnership with SwedishAmerican Health System, United Way will be able to provide every child in the Meridian School District with a free, brand new book once a month from birth until they are five years old.”
The Imagination Library is a world-wide initiative that was first launched in Tennessee in 1995 and has helped millions of children in its nearly 25 years.
“We are always excited to partner with the United Way of Rock River Valley,” said Jodi Wubbena, manager at the SwedishAmerican Davis Junction Clinic. “Imagination Library is a wonderful project that encourages literacy among our youngest patients, so we are proud to be able to support it.”
