SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere Adopts New State-Of-The-Art MRI Machine
SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere is pleased to announce it has incorporated one of the most advanced diagnostic imaging tools available to improve patient access and help physicians provide the best medical outcomes possible. The new Signa Voyager 1.5T Wide Bore MRI system from GE Healthcare offers shorter exams and greater comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic confidence for doctors.
The new machine delivers some of the highest quality images on the market today. It produces up to 25 percent more signal-to-noise (SNR) than older systems, meaning it can be used for higher image resolution and faster scanning. The advanced noise-reducing technology provides shorter exams and greater comfort for patients. Lastly, the new scanner offers a 36 percent larger patient bore area opening to help reduce patient anxiety and claustrophobia. It also improves access for larger patients, now able to accommodate patients up to 550 pounds.
“Patient anxiety is one of the biggest challenges we face with MRI exams,” says SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere Administrator Dawna Menke. “Now, even those who are the most difficult to examine with conventional MRI approaches can be easily imaged in a comfortable setting while enhancing our physicians overall diagnostic confidence.”
The new MRI system non-invasively assists physicians in the diagnosis of a variety of anatomical areas, such as the head, abdomen and chest, including detailed imaging of the vascular system and major organs. In addition, it offers advanced 3D motion correction technology that helps eliminate the need for patients to lay motionless throughout the scan, making it less stressful for the patient.
