SwedishAmerican to Host Free Breast Cancer Awareness Program

On Monday, October 3, at 6:30 PM, SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health will host Planting the Seeds of Hope, a free breast cancer awareness program, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road in Rockford.

Attendees can arrive at 5:30 PM to register and browse informative healthcare exhibits. At 6:30 PM, SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Bill Gorski will provide an update on the health system and the merger between SwedishAmerican and UW Health.

Dr. Jennifer Steiman, assistant professor of surgery at UW Health, will present “Breast Cancer Screening and Risk Assessment.” An expert panel will then discuss the latest innovations in breast healthcare and answer questions from the audience. Finally, Kristin Crowley, evening anchor for WREX and emcee for the evening, will interview Cherish Seidel-Trout, breast cancer survivor, and her mother-in-law, Jean Trout, current breast cancer patient.

“We are very excited to host our annual Planting the Seeds of Hope event during a very important month, breast cancer awareness month,” says SwedishAmerican Breast Health Supervisor Adrea Bennett. “Making people aware of breast cancer signs and symptoms and helping individuals who are currently battling the disease is why we host this event. It’s extremely informative and free for our community members.”

Attendees will receive a free gift. Light refreshments will be served and a door prize will be awarded. To register for this FREE program, visit SwedishAmerican.org or call HealthConnect at (779) 696-7081.
