SwedishAmerican Foundation to Co-Host Fall Neighborhood Association Group Summit, October 19

Our city is faced with many challenges, but along with challenges comes many opportunities for our community. That’s why SwedishAmerican Foundation, Rockford Police Department and Neighborhood Association’s from Jackson Oaks, Keith Creek, North Highland, Rockview and South Highland are hosting a Fall Neighborhood Association Group Summit on Thursday, October 19 from 6 – 7:30 PM at Redeemer Church, 827 16th Street, Rockford.

The summit is FREE and open to local community members. At 6:00 PM, dinner will be provided and from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, Urban Planner Ashley Sarver from Gary W. Anderson Architects will discuss the Great Neighborhoods Project, a project that has been piloted this year in the community. The Great Neighborhoods Project engages neighborhoods to focus on the assets that they have and to begin mapping those assets. By exposing our neighborhoods to mapping assets, it’s an opportunity for them to come together to discuss what’s already great about their neighborhood and how to strengthen their neighborhoods moving forward.

“The Great Neighborhoods Project is a perfect opportunity to tell our neighborhood’s stories, its history and about the people that make it what it is,” says SwedishAmerican Foundation Development & Property Coordinator Emily Anaya. “The project is about creating a vision, a plan to strengthen our community and be the standout neighborhood that we know we can be here in Rockford.”
