SwedishAmerican EMS Program to Host Paramedic and EMT Classes

For those who may be interested in serving as an EMT or Paramedic, SwedishAmerican’s EMS Program is excited to announce it is hosting and EMT and Paramedic class starting in August.

The EMT-Basic class will be offered at the SwedishAmerican EMS Office located at 4120 Charles Street, Rockford beginning Tuesday, August 15, 2017. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 10 PM and will end on December 14, 2017.

The EMT-Basic class will prepare students to become first responders in emergency situations. Coursework covers topics such as assessment and treatment of injuries and use of medical equipment. The Paramedic class will be offered at the SwedishAmerican EMS Office located at 4120 Charles Street, Rockford beginning Thursday, September 7th, 2017. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm and will end on August 21, 2018.

The prerequisites for the Paramedic class include: a current EMT-Basic license; high school diploma or GED; current healthcare (BLS) CPR card, and; the student must be 18 years old. Application deadline for the Paramedic course is July 21, 2017.
