SwedishAmerican Employees Attend Homeland Security Training

SwedishAmerican employees Steve Kirschbaum, Dwan Montgomery, Sharon Goldsmith, Sue Thompson and Tonya Gray completed training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), in Anniston, Alabama, June 19 – 24. The CDP is operated by the United States Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons and Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.

Participants were challenged with operating an active incident command center during a multiple casualty hospital serge exercise. The intensive training took place over four days. Each individual had an assignment from Incident Commander and HAZMAT Branch Director to Triage Registration and Triage Technician.

The CDP develops and delivers advanced training for emergency response providers, emergency managers and other governmental officials from state, local and tribal governments. Responders participating in CDP training gain critical skills and confidence to respond effectively to local incidents or potential WMD events.
