SwedishAmerican’s Tonya Heidenreich has been selected by the American Nurses for Professional Development Organization as the 2019 National Learning Facilitator of the Year.

Heidenreich, a Nurse Professional Development Specialist, was selected over nominees across the nation based on her expertise in educational assessment, simulation, skills and design. This is one of eight national awards the ANPD presents annually. A SwedishAmerican employee for more than 20 years, Heidenreich was nominated by her co-worker Michelle Campos.

“Tonya has an innovative approach to engaging learners and collaborates well with staff of all disciplines,” Campos said. “She spends countless hours reviewing case studies, creating scenarios, and researching evidence to bring simulations to reality. Tonya’s relentless commitment to the evolution of our simulation program, involvement in interprofessional education, and her desire for professional growth among the participants prove that she is well-deserving of this honor.”

Heidenreich will travel to the ANPD Annual National Conference in Phoenix March 31 to be recognized.
