SwedishAmerican Donates More Than 1,500 School Supplies to Neighborhood Schools

Monday marked the first day of school for students in Rockford Public Schools. Thanks to SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health and its generous employees, RPS 205 students will receive more than 1,500 school supply items to ensure this year is successful. SwedishAmerican hosted a Back-to-School Supply Drive with its employees; below is a list of items donated to its neighboring schools:

•Backpacks
•#2 Pencils
•Markers & Crayons
•Erasers
•Glue Sticks
•Scissors
•Spiral Bound Notebooks
•Pocket Folders
•Loose Leaf Paper

Additionally, SwedishAmerican employees donated $1,002 in cash donations to the Rockford Public Schools, and the SwedishAmerican Foundation also kicked-in a gift of $300, making it a total cash value of approximately $3,800.

“We are extremely grateful to the employees at SwedishAmerican,” says Lincoln Middle School Principal Jim Parker. “This donation will put smiles on a lot of our students’ faces. We appreciate everything SwedishAmerican does for our school district and for the community.”

“I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, SwedishAmerican has some of the most giving and generous employees,” says Foundation Director Laura Wilkinson. “We are thrilled to be lightening the load for some of our local families who cannot afford school supplies. Success starts with having the right tools and resources available for all children to learn and grow.”
