SwedishAmerican Breaks Ground on New Creekside Medical Center

SwedishAmerican officially “kicked-off spring” and broke ground on its new state-of-the-art Creekside Medical Center, located at 3505 North Bell School Road, Rockford.

SwedishAmerican leadership, board members, doctors, representatives from the City of Rockford, along with local officials, formally broke ground on its new $24 million clinic which will sit adjacent to the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center. Additional project partners for the new facility include Scandroli Construction and PG Architecture Design/Build.

The new 70,000-square-foot multispecialty clinic will offer nearly 100 clinic rooms, 25 providers and feature OB/GYN, pediatrics, family practice, internal medicine and endocrinology services. Additionally, the clinic will have ancillary services including lab and medical imaging.

“Today is another very exciting day for Swedes,” says SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Michael Born. “As we continue to grow and expand our services in the community, we remain committed to providing convenient access to high-quality healthcare for our residents.”

The new SwedishAmerican Creekside Medical Center will add approximately 300 construction jobs along with new permanent healthcare jobs. Construction on the clinic will officially begin this spring with completion in 2019.

“SwedishAmerican Creekside Medical Center won’t just be a new building, it’s a clinic that will offer numerous services conveniently located under one roof from some of the most respected doctors and nurses in the area,” says SwedishAmerican Vice President of Operations Jedediah Cantrell. “This new clinic also will have a significant positive financial impact on the region and in our local community.”

In February, SwedishAmerican received approval on its $126 million expansion plan to construct a new women’s and children’s tower while modernizing its main hospital campus in downtown Rockford. Additionally, the health system announced plans to expand its healthcare services with the construction of Riverwest Clinic, located at 815 Marchesano Drive on Rockford’s southwest side, and Edgewater Medical Center, located on Rockford’s northwest side.
