State Street Mile Scheduled for August 6 – Registration Now Open

The 32nd annual State Street Mile, presented by SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health, will be held Saturday, August 6 in downtown Rockford and registration is now open. Participants can register online by going directly to http://tinyurl.com/StateStreetMile16.

The event includes five individual races including an Masters Heat for men and women 40 years and older; Open Heat for men and women 17 – 39 years old; Ben Newson Jr. run for both boys and girls K-12; and a FREE kids fun run for children 12 years and younger. The committee also is offering the 3rd annual High School Challenge. The committee will give away $1,000 to the high school that has the most registered and most participating students, staff and faculty.

The race will start on East State Street (near SwedishAmerican Hospital) and will finish near the City Market pavilion. Prize money will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the Open heat and first place overall male and female in the Masters heat. The race benefits both the Rockford Sports Coalition and Rockford Wildcats youth running team.

“We are very excited to host the 32nd annual SwedishAmerican State Street Mile this year,” says Race Director Rick Durso. “The event brings together families and individuals both young and old. Plus, we get to give back to one of our local high schools through our 3rd annual High School Challenge.”
