National Magazine Names SwedishAmerican among it's "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare"
For the second consecutive year, the national industry magazine, Becker's Healthcare, has included SwedishAmerican in its "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" list, which includes both U.S. healthcare provider organizations, such as hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgical centers and home health agencies, as well as other types of healthcare-specific companies, like consulting firms, health IT vendors, medical societies and more. A version of this list has been published every year since 2011, but this is the third year the list features both providers and non-provider organizations.
The Becker's Healthcare editorial team determined the organizations included on this year's list. Organizations that submitted nominations were considered, as were organizations that received national, state or local recognition previously earned for workplace excellence, as well as benefits offerings, wellness initiatives and efforts to improve professional development, diversity and inclusion, work-life balance and a sense of community among employees.
"SwedishAmerican is proud to be recognized by Becker's Healthcare and included in this prestigious ranking for the second straight year," says Human Resources Vice President Jerry Guinane. "Our commitment to our associates is conveyed through our mission and our commitment of offering diverse benefits programs and caring for the well-being of our associates. We have a workforce that is engaged and invested in our mission, 'Through excellence in healthcare and compassionate service, we care for our community.'"
The Becker's Healthcare recognition follows other recent honors that recognize SwedishAmerican as an employer of choice. In May 2014 the organization was named one of the “Healthiest Companies in America” by Interactive Health, the leading provider of outcomes-based health management solutions. SwedishAmerican was one of only 67 honorees from across the United States to be recognized for its efforts to prioritize employee wellness and create an ongoing culture of health.
In July 2014 SwedishAmerican received “Gold” level designation as one of Illinois’ Healthiest Worksites. The organization was one of only four honorees from Illinois to be recognized in the Gold level for its efforts to show exceptional commitment to improve the health of its employees. Sponsored by the Governor’s Council on Health and Physical Fitness, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illinois Healthy Worksite designation was created to engage employers throughout the state in worksite wellness best practices.
