National Magazine Names SwedishAmerican among "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare"
For the fourth consecutive year, the national industry magazine, Becker's Healthcare, has included SwedishAmerican in its "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" list, which includes both U.S. healthcare provider organizations, such as hospitals, health systems and healthcare companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.
The organizations featured on the list offer benefits and opportunities for employees to build successful careers above and beyond the average healthcare provider or company. In addition, the organizations encourage professional development and promote leadership from within. Many members on the list also offer unique wellness and personal benefits to ensure employees strike a positive work/life balance as well as employee recognition programs to highlight their accomplishments.
"SwedishAmerican is proud to be recognized by Becker's Healthcare and included in this prestigious ranking for the fourth straight year," said SwedishAmerican Vice President of Human Resources Jerry Guinane. "Our number one goal is to engage our associates and embrace diversity and professional development. I also want to thank our extremely talented team of associates who are engaged and invested in delivering high-quality healthcare to our patients as well as their families.”
The Becker's Healthcare recognition follows other recent honors that recognize SwedishAmerican as an employer of choice. In 2017, SwedishAmerican was honored with the Wellness Councils of America Well Workplace USA Gold Award and the Illinois Department of Public Health bestowed the hospital with the Illinois Healthy Worksite Gold Level status. SwedishAmerican also ranked as an American Heart Association Platinum Level Fit-Friendly Worksite. Lastly, the health system offers tuition reimbursement for continuing professional development as well as an on-site child care and a flexible work environment.
Also included on the list is SwedishAmerican’s parent company, UW Health. The 16,500-person staff at UW has access to the Total Rewards Program, which aims to reward talented individuals and help employees achieve a positive work-life balance. The health system offers financial services, legal consultation and counseling services to employees and their family members at no extra cost, as well as the Wellness Options at Work program, giving employees a chance to participate in healthy activities.
