It's a fact of life that accidents happen. When they involve injuries or health-related problems, you want the very best emergency medicine professionals caring for you. That's who you'll find working at SwedishAmerican.

New Facilities

Built with privacy and service in mind, our facility is more than three times larger than the hospital's old emergency department and includes more than 30 individual treatment rooms. After checking in, patients with less severe conditions receive attention through a minor treatment area, while more serious patients are given care in the main emergency department.

Expanded Capabilities

In addition to serving as a level II trauma center, SwedishAmerican's emergency department is capable of meeting the special emergency needs of children. This is evident by the Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) recognition we received from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program. Our emergency department also is home to the region's first chemical decontamination room. Along with an on-site CT scanner, our department is equipped with a digital X-ray system that enables doctors and nurses to quickly view and discuss films from virtually any location.

If you need to see us, we are centrally located in Rockford, with easy access off of East State Street. All incoming patients are carefully screened, and we first care for those who need help right away.
