CHILDREN'S SERVICES
At SwedishAmerican, we care about your child's health. With this in mind, we offer many different services to keep children well, and to care for them when they get sick.
Primary Care
We have pediatricians on staff at SAMG/Woodside. The family practice physicians of SwedishAmerican Medical Group also provide care for children at many other convenient clinic locations.
Immediate Care
For life's little emergencies, or when children need to see a doctor after hours, immediate care services are offered at two convenient locations: North Alpine and Guiford Roads in Rockford (815-391-7800), and Hononegah Road and 251 in Roscoe (815-623-2555). No appointment is needed.
Specialized Care
When children require specialized medical care, the SwedishAmerican Children's Medical Center offers comprehensive pediatric services to meet their medical and surgical needs.
We specialize in many types of health care for kids, from allergies, ear nose and throat, and digestive care, to sleep disorders, heart care, and a number of different surgeries. We also offer a pain management service that provides relief from pain discomfort.
The center blends the latest in medical technology with a caring spirit and the expertise of numerous pediatric subspecialty physicians, nurses, child life specialists, dietitians, social workers and technicians. Our medical and nursing staff are highly trained for the unique problems encountered by children.
SwedishAmerican's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides the highest degree of care and the most specialized available to sick infants and premature babies with very low birth weight.
We realize that hospitalization can be scary for children. With this in mind, we have a special child-life program designed to minimize the stress and anxiety your child may experience. The goal of the program is to keep children comfortable by planning age-appropriate activities, and we prepare your child both physically and mentally for hospitalization, surgery and medical procedures.
Outpatient Services
In addition to providing care that requires overnight stays, we also offer comprehensive outpatient services for a number of childhood illnesses, both at the center and at various sites across a 12-county region.
Safe Kids
Because we realize the importance of child safety, SwedishAmerican Health System leads the Winnebago County Safe Kids Coalition. The coalition is part of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, the first and only national organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. For more information on the coalition, call (815) 489-4483.
