Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment
Within every family, certain traits are shared and passed on from one generation to the next. Most obvious are physical traits such as eye or hair color, or resemblances that parents and children share. Less obvious are inherited genetic traits that control the tendency to develop specific health concerns, such as cancer.

If you or your relatives have had cancer, you may be concerned about future cancer risks and wonder what you can do about it. The purpose of the SwedishAmerican Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment Program is to help you learn more about your risk for breast, ovarian or colon cancer through personalized education and counseling, and to coordinate genetic testing if you choose to pursue it. Being aware of your risk is very important so that steps can be taken to lower your chance of developing cancer or detect it at an early, curable stage.

While this program is managed through the SwedishAmerican Center For Women, we offer breast and colon cancer risk assessments to both men and women. For more information about our hereditary cancer risk assessment program, including eligibility, how the process works, and what to expect during an appointment, please call us at (779) 696-7676.
