Radiation therapy is a proven and effective way to treat many kinds of cancer in almost any part of the body. The Regional Cancer Center’s Radiation Oncology Department offers state-of-the-art cancer treatment technology, provided by a caring staff of radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and nurses. Advanced treatment technologies include two linear accelerators for radiation therapies such as IGRT, SBRT, IMRT, Brachytherapy/Mammosite, HDRT and stereotactic therapy.
Half of all people with cancer are treated with radiation, and the number of cancer patients who have survived is rising every day. For many patients, radiation is the only kind of treatment needed, and many are free of cancer after having radiation treatments alone or in combination with surgery, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
