However, physicians are not the only providers of care. It takes myriad health, administrative and support professionals to complete the excellence that has always emanated from SwedishAmerican. The driving force behind this is the staff's continuous commitment to our patients, our community and our region."

President and CEO, 1978-1989
1986:
Subsequent to a Joint Commission report, SwedishAmerican began its focus on quality. The position of manager of quality assurance was created. Quality committees also began. SwedishAmerican's officers approved resources for a dedicated staff and computer technology to begin quality measuring and monitoring.


1989:
Dr. Henry Anderson was hired as Vice President of Professional Affairs to further direct SwedishAmerican's quality efforts. SwedishAmerican purchased MAXSYS – a measurement tool to document the monitoring of our medical staff for recredentialing purposes.
