QUALITY TIMELINE

A Historical Overview of Quality Initiatives at SwedishAmerican

1980s  |  1990s  |  2000s

"SwedishAmerican has had a strong heritage of quality and services for which our predecessors have been quite proud; and we, as part of its present, can be equally proud as these elements have been maintained as essential components of SwedishAmerican's continued progress."

E. Wynn Presson
Administrator/Executive Vice President, 1971-1977
1986:
Subsequent to a JCAHO report, SwedishAmerican began its focus on quality. The position of manager of quality assurance was created. Quality committees also began. SwedishAmerican's officers approved resources for a dedicated staff and computer technology to begin quality measuring and monitoring.

1989:
Dr. Henry Anderson was hired as Vice President of Professional Affairs to further direct SwedishAmerican's quality efforts. SwedishAmerican purchased MAXSYS – a measurement tool to document the monitoring of our medical staff for recredentialing purposes.
