Visiting Hours
SwedishAmerican welcomes the friends and families of our patients. Visiting hours are open for most areas of the hospital, except for the Center for Mental Health. Visitors arriving after 9:00 p.m. must enter the hospital via the Emergency Department to receive a visitor’s pass from Security, since all other public entrances will be locked.

Visiting Guidelines
Visitors play an important role in helping patients recover. The following policy outlines guidelines for visitors.
Quiet Hours
Our goal is to maintain a therapeutic healing environment for everyone, so we ask that you respect general quiet hours from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. While well-meaning family and friends can be a source of support and comfort to patients, there may be times when it’s better to not have visitors. The patient may want to rest or may need privacy for a procedure. A member of our nursing staff may ask visitors to leave for a brief time so that we can attend to the patient’s needs.
For patients in critical care (CCU) and Progressive Care (PCU) units, 24-hour visitation is available. However, these areas have additional “quiet hours.” Please let staff members know of special visiting needs.
Critical Care Unit (2nd floor of the Heart Hospital)
1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
2:00 a.m.–4:00 a.m.

Sanitize Hands Before and After Visiting
The soap and hand sanitizer in patient rooms are for everyone—wash or sanitize your hands when entering and leaving the room of the person you are visiting to avoid bringing in and carrying out germs. Clean your hands after sneezing, coughing, touching your eyes, nose or mouth, after using the restroom and before and after eating and drinking. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve, and do not sit on patient beds or handle their equipment. Read and follow any instructions posted outside the patient’s room.
Stay Home if you are Sick
Do not visit the hospital if you are sick or have had any ill symptoms within the last three days including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever (or feeling feverish), uncontrolled cough or rash.
