CENTENNIAL HISTORY BOOK
In conjunction with our 100th anniversary, SwedishAmerican Health System has published It Began with a Dollar, a 200-page book about the organization's history.

In the book, readers will learn about struggles that have been endured, and contributions that have been made by SwedishAmerican’s people over the last century. It Began with a Dollar includes fascinating stories about the Great Pandemic, the polio epidemic, the Belvidere tornado, the arrival of open-heart surgery and more. The book also profiles many of the medical trailblazers who paved the way for modern healthcare delivery.
It Began with a Dollar costs $24.95 and is available for purchase on the SwedishAmerican Hospital campus, at both hospital gift shop locations.
Proceeds will benefit the SwedishAmerican Heritage Center, which is located on the first floor of the hospital (near the Heart Hospital entrance).
