SwedishAmerican Center For Women Designated an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
June 16, 2011
The SwedishAmerican Breast Health Center (part of the SwedishAmerican Center For Women) has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
"It's a great honor to be among such an elite group of Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence," says Paula Culvey, SwedishAmerican's manager of pediatrics & women's outpatient services. “This recognition from the ACR confirms our commitment to area women. Our use of advanced imaging technology, such as digital mammography, along with our high standards for quality, helps ensure the detection of breast cancer in its earliest stages, resulting in the best outcomes for our patients."
SwedishAmerican's breast imaging services are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that SwedishAmerican's facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
