SwedishAmerican Health System Honored by YMCA as Community Partner of the Year
March 21, 2014
SwedishAmerican Health System is pleased to announce it was honored with the Community Partner of the Year award during the 2nd annual YMCA of Rock River Valley community dinner on March 20. Each year the YMCA honors community partners, business leaders and local teens who have helped build a strong, supportive foundation within the community.
This year’s YMCA Community Partner of the Year award was themed around healthy living. To be honored, the company must make outstanding contributions in the region and make an impact on the Rock River Valley. Additionally, the company must embody excellence and make a significant contribution in the healthcare field.
SwedishAmerican Health System was founded in 1911 and is committed to providing excellence in healthcare and compassionate care to its community. The health system serves 12 counties in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin and is comprised of two hospitals, 30 clinics, a home health care agency and a foundation. Most recently, SwedishAmerican opened BetterLife Wellness, a medical center located within the I.D. Pennock Family YMCA. The center offers comprehensive programs to help community members reach their health and fitness goals.
“SwedishAmerican has a close relationship with the YMCA as we are both dedicated to strengthening our communities, supporting healthy living and promoting wellness,” says SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Bill Gorski. “We are honored to receive this prestigious award and proud to work with such a great organization.”
This is the YMCA of Rock River Valley’s second year hosting its community dinner. Funds from the event will support the Y’s annual campaign, a program that supports the community from athletics to advocacy, dance classes to disease prevention, and volleyball to volunteerism.
