SwedishAmerican Foundation to Host Annual Fundraising Gala on March 2
February 15, 2013
Cruise '13, the SwedishAmerican Foundation's annual spring gala, scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at Giovanni’s, has been declared a "sell-out," for the second consecutive year.
"Last year's Cruise event sold out about a week prior to the event," says Foundation Executive Vice President John R. Mecklenburg. "This year, we’re sold out a full two weeks prior to the event."
Proceeds from Cruise will benefit the new SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center, which is scheduled to open in 2013. Celebrating its 19th year, the event offers a special evening of music, dancing, a dazzling array of food, and a silent auction.
Guests, who are encouraged to wear cruise or island attire, will be greeted by "Jamaican One Man Band." Guests can then visit ports-of-call featuring the foods of Germany, Asia and the good old USA. Throughout the evening guests can bid on an array of silent auction items and dance to the sounds of the popular Rockford DJ Steve Shannon.
The Cruise '13 committee includes John and Kathy Mecklenburg, Steve Schou, Mary DeMarco, Kay Flodin, Melody Pobjecky, Deborah Johnson, Carol Evans, Michelle Adams, and Jan Hagenlocher.
