SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center Releases Annual Report
January 9, 2013
The SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center has released its online annual report for 2012.
Available at www.swedishamerican.org/CAR, the report contains a summary of the cancer center's analytic and non-analytic incidences of cancer cases in 2011.
Additionally, Medical Oncologist Dr. William Edwards has presented a comprehensive report titled: “Bladder Cancer: The Common Cancer You Have Never Heard Of.” His report compares and analyzes the evaluation, incidence rates, gender, stage, treatments and survival of bladder cancer in patients seen at the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center and compares our performance against the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB).
In April the Illinois Certificate of Need board approved our plans to construct a 63,000-square-foot, free-standing cancer center in collaboration with UW Health and its nationally recognized University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. In June we broke ground on the new facility, which is located at 3535 N. Bell School Rd. in Rockford. The two-story SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center will offer medical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion services; radiation therapy; medical imaging, including on-site PET/CT; healing gardens; and financial, social and spiritual counseling.
