SwedishAmerican to Host Free Community Back Pain Presentation in Freeport

On November 20, SwedishAmerican Neurosurgeon Dr. Melissa Y. Macias, MD, PhD, will host a free, informative community presentation about back pain at the Fieldstone Inn (1121 West Empire Street) in Freeport, Illinois. The event takes place at 5:30 PM, and a light dinner will be served.

Chronic back pain is a common problem, affecting approximately 10 million adults each year. Most patients have spine problems related to degenerative conditions that can result in instability, as well as back pain and/or radiating pain in the arms or legs. When nonsurgical treatments are not effective, some patients require surgery.

As a neurosurgeon specializing in the comprehensive treatment of spine disease and pathologies, Dr. Macias is committed to a thorough and compassionate approach to spine care. By listening, educating and treating patients on an individual basis, her mission is to preserve and restore quality of life to patients. Dr. Macias is board certified in neurosurgery is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
