SwedishAmerican Nationally Recognized for Cardiac Excellence

SwedishAmerican has a long tradition of excellence in cardiac services. This tradition continues with the 2009 Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award from HealthGrades—the nation’s leading independent ratings company.

The largest of its kind, HealthGrades’ study analyzed patient outcomes at virtually all of the nation’s 5,000 hospitals over the years 2005, 2006 and 2007. For the second consecutive year, SwedishAmerican Hospital was among the top 5 percent in the nation for cardiac surgery.

The study also revealed the following additional achievements:

• Ranked Among the Top 5 (#2) in IL for Cardiac Surgery
• Ranked Among the Top 5 in IL for Cardiac Surgery Two Years in a Row (2008-2009)
• Best Rated in Rockford, IL for Overall Cardiac Care Two Years in a Row (2008-2009)
• Best Rated in Rockford, IL for Cardiac Surgery Two Years in a Row (2008-2009)
• Five-Star Rated for Cardiac Surgery Two Years in a Row (2008-2009)
• Five-Star Rated for Coronary Bypass Surgery Four Years in a Row (2006-2009)
• Five-Star Rated for Treatment of Heart Failure
• Received the Highest Possible Star Ratings for Coronary Bypass Surgery Two Years in a Row (2008-2009)
